How often do you find yourself racing through an exercise set just to get to the next set? Slow it down! What good is a set that you mindlessly race through with no focus on the reps and poor isolation on the muscle?

Repetitions done with lightning speed may help with power developement but do little to build lean body mass. Most people do reps at about a 1-0-1 or 2-0-2 tempo which means that they lift and lower the weight at a 1-2 second count.

For a real eye-opening, muscle-building change try slowing your tempo to a 3-0-3. At this tempo you will lift the weight while silently counting to 3 and lower the weight at the same speed.
