Keep it Short and Sweet

How often have you forced yourself to do a long, drawn out workout because you equated a long workout with a quality workout. Well, sometimes the opposite is true. Some of my best workouts have come when I was pressed for time. I was focused, I didn't dilly dally between sets, and my intensity remained high. Afterward I was pumped and invigorated.

My favorite body builder, Bill Pearl, once told me to "leave a few reps in the gym"! Working out too long can leave you feeling mentally burned out and lessen your desire to get back to the gym for your next workout. Additionally, research has shown that growth hormone and testosterone release peak at about 40 minutes into an intense workout.

Keep your strength workouts short, focused, and intense; and enjoy the sweet results!
