How Bad do You Want It?

I’ve been personal training for nearly 16 years now. I’ve seen clients make tremendous progress at times, and others who made very little. Sometimes when I sign up a new client I’ll ask him to rate how committed he is to achieving his desired goals. If the rating is high, he may have a reasonable chance of success.

It’s one thing to see a chiseled physique on the front of a magazine and to think “Wow, I’d like to look like that!” It’s quite another thing to muster the drive and determination needed to endure months of intense training and disciplined eating that will be required to turn desire to reality.

My job as a trainer is to give you the tools, the road map, and the encouragement that you will need to achieve fitness success. I’m your fitness guide, but you have to lace up your shoes and do the dirty work. Without the intrinsic will to succeed, ten trainers won’t do you a bit of good.

Here’s a little advice if you want to look like that dude or babe on the magazine cover. Ask yourself how bad you really want it. Write down specifically what you want to achieve, and how much time and energy you’re willing to sacrifice to achieve it. Plan your strategy (a trainer can help here) laying out the necessary steps you’ll need to take. Get moving! Stop making excuses. Stop whining. If you fail for a week, don’t stew, forget about it. You can do it; but you’ve got to want it! Bad!
